Icewool, lambswool, or wool felt is a soft, thin, brushed wadding fabric primarily used in couture sewing, bridal wear and bespoke tailoring as an underlining or interfacing. It provides a smooth, slightly puffy finish for hiding structural elements like boning, padding suit lapels, and protecting delicate outer fabrics. Icewool is similar to Domette, but has a little more loft and an open weave with one side fluffier than the other.
Tailors utilise it to cushion areas like pad-stitched lapels or chest front canvases, where it is used in addition to horsehair canvas.
In corsetry it is often used as a padding or underlining to prevent boning from showing through, to create smooth, rounded seams.
