We thought it about time we give you an update on all things new at Sewing Gem.
Sewing Patterns
Tilly and the Buttons
We are pretty happy to have added Tilly and The Buttons patterns to our range. Mum and I were so excited that we immediately made a Seren and Stevie dress. Now the cooler weather is upon us we have added a few more patterns, including the Eden coat and Agnes long sleeve knit top.
Sew Over it
We've a few new Sew Over It patterns available now too, including the Coco Jacket, Eve dress and The Vintage Shirt Dress pattern.
Fabrics
Rossini Fabrics Australia
An area we are keen to expand upon at Sewing Gem is our range of quality dressmaking fabrics. We have begun to do this with fabrics from Rossini Fabrics Australia. Take a look here to see our currently range and watch this space as more linens, rayons and viscose fabrics are due very soon.
Emma Louise Plains
Our range of of Emma Louise plain cottons has expanded quite a bit.
These fabrics are high quality 100% cotton, approximately 120 grams per square metre and have a lovely soft touch. We realise how important it is to get the colour right when you are working on sewing projects and as a result will be offering a sample service on these fabrics. These fabrics can be found here.
Stof Jersey
We've added a few new Stof Jersey to the store too, mainly with a pink theme. I'm currently turning a small selection of it in to Tadah! Jaunty dresses (which by the way also comes in a long sleeve version, making them perfect for the cooler months). Watch this space for the photoshoot to follow.

Haberdashery
For those of you who create your own patterns or prefer to trace your own patterns off; this stuff is fantastic. If you use the Palmer-Plesch method of tissue-fitting it acts almost fabric-like. A staple for all dressmakers/sewers/sewists/seamstresses... we don't mind what you call yourself here! :)
Labels By Kylie and the Machine
LABELS BY KATM are Super High-Quality woven labels, they are classified as HD which is similar to a thread count in sheets, finer and more threads which give the crispest designs. They are Oeko-Tex certified, washable, durable and non-scratchy! Check them out here. These labels really help to lift your sewing game and they are a perfect way to finish a project - even if it's just so you know which way round the garment goes:)
New Rasant thread colours
We added a wider range of Rasant threads to our collection. Check out our range here. It has a poly core and cotton outer - it is both durable and flexible, a perfect combination for quality sewing thread.
Black Interfacing
I was super excited to being stocking lightweight, woven (gosh I hate the synthetic stuff) interfacing as it took me quite a while to source this without having to buy a humongous roll. Anyway here it is, Vilene...
Needles
Our range of Schmetz machine needleshere has expanded to include overlocker, leather and denim needles.
We also have an extended range of Clover hand sewing and embroidery needles.
We've added a few other haberdashery items too, including...
- Rajah Cloth and fray stoppa
- Clover products including grading ruler and bias binding makers.
