What's New At Sewing Gem
It’s been a pretty exciting first month at Sewing Gem, so we thought we'd take this opportunity to keep you up to date with sewing projects and new products available in store.
We decided to whip up the Sew Over it Rosie Dress in a navy blue linen for our next promotional shoot. The gorgeous Sophie modelled it, along with Eddie the Dog. I've been told not to try a photoshoot with animals... fortunately Eddie was an exceptionally good boy, especially as there were lots of tempting cakes and dog biscuits in sniffing distance! For those of you local to Brisbane we headed to New Farm Park to shoot the dress in all it's glory. It was a beautifully sunny day, almost a little too bright for the camera, but our awesome photographer Maryanne worked her magic. Eddie wore a cute little bandana (Fabric was Cotton and Steel Basics, Add it up in Sea Glass) and Sophie’s dress has a few little discrete touches to tie in with Eddie. I will be doing another blog on the actual sewing of the dress including lots of photos. Keep an eye on facebook and instagram for the shoot photos too.
In other exciting news we now stock a full range of plain linens - similar to the one used for Sophie's dress. Check out the fabric used for Sophie's dress here.
Plans to create Sewing Tutorials / Vlogging
An area we are keen to move into at Sewing Gem is video tutorials so we can share what we are making in a bit more detail. We thought we'd start with how to make Eddie’s bandana and all you need to know about making and using piping. I'm sure there are a few dog lovers out there who would like to create something for their pooch. Lots of ideas in the pipeline for this so let us know if you’d been keen to see this happen.
